Senior Planet: Introduction to Digital Culture

Starts Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm

From communicating with others to staying healthy, digital tools and technologies affect much of our lives. By the end of this 5-week course, you’ll use the internet to contact your lawmakers, learn about health-related topics, connect with others offline and online, and explore your interests and passions. You’ll also learn best practices for staying safe online and using social media.

Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays.

National DPP Lifestyle Change Program
National DPP Lifestyle Change Program

Starts Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 9:45 am to 10:45am or 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm

In this program, you'll get a full year of support and learn how to eat healthy, add physical activity to your routine, manage stress, stay motivated, and solve problems that can get in the way of your goals. This program is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. 

Please note: This program is for adults who are at risk or have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes only. We'll meet weekly for the first six months then transition to once a month.

Open to JCC Members only.

Healthy Bones for Life Exercise and Education Program

Wednesdays, Starting March 6, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am

The Healthy Bones for Life Exercise and Education Program is a community- based program designed for men and women who are 55+. The exercise program consists of weight-bearing exercises, muscle strengthening, flexibility, posture training, and balance exercises. Cost: Free for Members/$10 per quarter for Program Guests

In March, Susan Kugler from the Capital Region Jewish Genealogical Society will discuss "world history through the eyes of a genealogist." 

The seeds of our family trees were planted somewhere far in the past, and the branches spread worldwide. Family trees are not just about the people but the places, and the history of these places. I will share what I have found, how I found it, and what I am still looking for - for my own Jewish, German, Irish and Italian families that ended up in Albany, NY.

Learn to Play Mah Jongg

Learn how to play American Mah Jongg, a fascinating, rummy-like game played with tiles rather than cards. Over six weeks, Criss Macaione will teach players the basics of understanding the tiles and current Mah Jongg card and how to select and strengthen a winning hand.
