Join us for the Alliance concert debut of multi-instrumentalist Asaf Ophir, who -- with his guitar -- leads us on a musical journey of classic Israeli songs, from Naomi Shemer to Nurit Hirsch, and everything in between.  He'll talk about some of the stories behind the music, and how it evolved throughout the country's history.  Selections will include songs that are popular in the diaspora, as well as a few gems that only the locals know.

From a noble pledge of friendship to a delicious seduction to an ardent declaration of love, from an evening prayer to a tragic finale, duets in opera are found in a variety of situations and express a myriad of emotions.  Journey with instructor James Sokol through a wide range of repertoire to experience the blending of two voices – tenors, baritones & basses – in glorious music.  Attending Part-I is NOT a prerequisite for joining Part-II.
