Book Discussion - Daughter of the Reich
- Price: FREE
This discussion will be led by Marsha Halpert, a second‑generation Holocaust survivor. Through her personal lens, Marsha will explore Daughter of the Reich by Louise Fein, a historical novel set in 1930s–40s Germany. The story follows Hetty Heinrich, the daughter of a high‑ranking Nazi official, whose beliefs begin to shift when she reconnects with Walter, her Jewish childhood friend. The conversation will examine how hatred is taught and normalized, the novel’s historical context, and the moral questions it raises about complicity, conscience, and resistance.
This book discussion is free and open to the community. Copies of the book are available at the Albany Public Library or may be purchased at your favorite book shop.
